David Wilkes (JD, 1992) writes, "I have been elected Chairman of The Appraisal Foundation, based in Washington, DC. The Foundation is the Congressionally-authorized source of U.S. asset valuation standards and appraiser licensing qualifications and is the publisher of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). This past year I spearheaded the creation of the Foundation's historic Appraisal Practices Board (APB), which is the first-ever authoritative body to provide U.S. appraisers with guidance on recognized methods and techniques in valuation. The federal government, state regulators, and thousands of appraisers called upon the Foundation to provide this valuation guidance at a time when the need is critical. As of this June the new Board will be up and running. I continue my work as an international valuation law and policy specialist and am Managing Director of Standards Research Services International, LLC (SRSI), in which I advise foreign governments and global corporations; I also retain an active partnership role in the New York law firm I co-founded, Huff Wilkes, LLP, and I continue to serve as Editor-in-Chief of the New York State Bar Association's monthly magazine, the Journal. I'm also several chapters along in writing a book of essays, entitled "Hungry and Frustrated", that reflect on the ways in which we value nearly everything in our lives." Submitted on Apr 12 2010.
